[[en]]By. Khenpo. Tsulnam Rinpoche MilarepaThe pigeon cave of Tsum Kuthang is one of the four great meditation caves of Jetsun Milarepa. When Milarepa was travelling from Yolmo to Tsum, the emanated pigeons have guided the way and made offerings to him thus it was known as pigeon cave. The eight stupas are said to be the sacred place where the eight pigeons made offerings to Milarepa. This sacred place is currently located at the upper part of the hidden land Tsum Happy Valley (Tsum Kyimo Lung) in the border of Nepal and Tibet. This is a solitary place, high mountains, pure environment, and clean atmosphere. It is said that the weather is little bit cold even during spring and summer time and extremely cold in the wintertime. The weather changes a lot. The pleasant singing of the bird’s chirp wakes us up early in the morning around three or four o’clock. The animals are wandering carefree. The local people are devoted in Dharma and kind-hearted. Their livelihood is very simple and everyone, young or old, live happily. The ancient Tibetan tradition remained in that area without deterioration. I have seen the change of the four times in a day. It is a common experience for everyone who have visited the place as peaceful and inspirational meditation site. Sometimes, it gives us the feeling of our body and mind being dissolved into the rocks and become indivisible. The place itself bless people is not merely mentioned in the texts but this can be clearly experienced from this meditation cave. In the future, if time permits and you have faith and determination to visit this place then I can guarantee you that you will not waste your expenses, energy, and hardships. The transportation to travel in this place is a little bit difficult and the road is sometimes dangerous too. But there is no need to fear and worry. The only travelling routes are to walk or to take the helicopter. As for the local people’s goods and groceries are normally transported by mules and themselves. The saying about the ancient tradition of mule’s routes between Indian, China, and Tibet, we can still see this in real today. The routes will probably be better in the future but it could harm the sacredness of the place and environment so it is possible that the place itself will turn into something else. Therefore, it would be the best to visit as early as you can without procrastination! I wanted to cross the mountain pass to see the view but neither I have wings nor miraculous powers like Milarepa! So, nothing I can do. I would like to thank you all who have helped me for this sacred journey. Sarva Mangalam.
